New Releases – April 2017

Finally, Persona 5 is out this month. It only been reviewed in a few places so far, but all looks positive. It’ll be good to get back into the structured world of Persona again. It’s certainly been a long time coming, considering Persona 4 released waaay back in 2008. Needless to say, it’s on my To Buy list.

Dawn of War is another series that been away for quite a while (not as long as Persona, but its last DLC was back in 2011) Warhammer 40k Dawn of War 3 is out towards the middle of the month and has orks…and marines…and eldars…It’s also nice to see RTS basebuilding is making a return. I like my RTS’s with a side of exterior decorating. Also the trailer below gets extra points for finishing with a WAAAAAAAHG!

Switch owners will have the opportunity to buy a second game this month. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is out towards the end of the month. I’m really surprised Nintendo didn’t call it Mario Kart Switch. In case you’ve never played a Mario Kart or the similar games, it’s a survival game based on reality with robots that look like real people and toasters with souls. The trailer below doesn’t convey much of this, but trust me, it’s there…

Is that it? There’s some other stuff too. Much I don’t know much about. Dragon Quest Heroes 2 is out on consoles and PC – though after the first one I’m not expecting much. Though much loved by critics, DQH was a pretty poor mash up of a Dynasty Warriors game with tower defence mechanics. The RPG elements were pretty terrible and were handled much better in Omega Force’s own Trinity: Souls of Z’ill Oll on PS3. Lego Undercover and another Telltale game – this one based on Guardians of the Galaxy. I get the feeling I think of Telltale collaboration games like most people think of Dynasty Warriors collaborations.
