The Gaming Month Ahead – September

In case you’re wondering, that image above is Kasumi from Dead or Alive 5. I know, it probably should have been FIFA13, or Borderlands 2 or WOW’s Pandas, or Tekken Tag 2 – they’re all going to sell more. But gosh darn it, I am inexplicably excited about Dead or Alive 5. Maybe it has something to do with the fact Soul Calibur 5 was so bloody terrible and Street Fighter x Tekken was so hard to get into. Maybe…either way Dead or Alive 5 is out this month and we’ll see if Team Ninja can make a DoA title without Itagaki (cause they sure as hell couldn’t make a Ninja Gaiden without him!)

DoA also has to compete with Tekken Tag Tournament 2 coming out midway through the month. It doesn’t look as snazzy as the original did back during the PS2 launch, but it does feature an enormous roster of characters, customisation and dirt (that’s the kind that you get when falling over, not a codemasters racing game).
Borderlands 2 also comes out this month with even more loot and awesomeness than before. It’s hard to think of reasons not to buy Borderlands 2 as it improves on all the shortcomings of the first and adds a gazillion more things. As the ultimate in co-op games Borderlands 2 also now has splitscreen on PC and allows splitscreen players on console to play online – along with drop-in drop-out gameplay and player character customisation.
For sports enthusiasts there is football, racing and hockey action with FIFA13, F1 2012 and NHL13 all out this month too. Vita gets a little love with Little Big Planet making its way onto the handheld, and anime fans can look forward to Omega Force’s (they of Dynasty Warriors fame) One Piece: Pirate Warriors game.
