The Quest for Completion Begins…

In which yours truly attempts to clear through 100 unfinished games in his collection! First up, what else?! It’s Zelda!

I’m not bragging here, but I’ve got a pretty big games collection! Well over 100-strong, across several consoles. My secret shame, though, is that I’ve barely completed any of them! Mostly, this is due to my poor attention span and my incessant buying of games both old and new. However, money is growing ever tighter, and recently I feel I’ve been growing bored of the endless shuffling between titles. I’ve become a jack of all games, and a master of none!

Well no more, I say! From today, I shall be taking on my game collection – one by one – until I’ve completed 100 games! And until that goal is achieved, I won’t be buying any games – old or new! Nor will I play anything else in the meantime! I’m going to be exploring the width and breadth of my shelves, revisiting classics I never got around to finishing, and trying out throwaway titles I bought without thinking!

There won’t be any particular order, but I’ll be posting a list of candidates for completion on the forums soon enough.. feel free to comment and suggest what I should tackle next! Also, a few things to note: Firstly, my games are in various stages of completion and, therefore, may feature only briefly here – I’ll let you know on the first update for each game how far I’ve already gotten. Second, I’m not aiming for 100% complete here. Otherwise it would probably take years to finish them all off! Finally on a related note, I’m a pretty average gamer; some games (especially shooters) will be a challenge and may take longer than you’d expect! Rest assured, however, that I won’t be giving up on any game until it’s beaten.

So, that’s the small print dealt with.. let’s start the Quest for Completion!

Game #1: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess [Nintendo Wii]

  • Completion Criteria – Defeat End Boss
  • Current Completion Status – 5 dungeons beaten, approx. 60% complete
  • Estimated Completion Time – 8-10 hours
  • Being The Hylian and all, you may be reeling in shock at the fact that I’ve never finished this game. In truth, it’s not anywhere near my favourite Zelda game, and it took me a long time to get into after what I felt was a very slow start. It was one of the first games I bought for my Wii, but soon after I bought Smash Bros. Brawl and, after having played that to death, I already had other games lined up that I wanted to play! So TP took a back seat, and I feel I’ve been neglecting an old friend ever since.

But the cobwebs have been blown off, I’ve been practising my sword-wielding (or wiimote waggling at least) and I’m ready to finally finish the game! At last play (over 6 months ago) I had just beaten the Snowpeak Ruins dungeon, the 5th main dungeon in the game, which puts me at just under 2/3 of the way through, if the game follows the Zelda trend of 7-9 dungeons. With 2 days off, I’m hoping my next update this Thursday evening will be telling you how I beat the game, and possibly even how I’ve already moved on to the next!

Apologies for length, and also my lengthy absence from the blog! Please, please comment below either to talk about my ‘Quest’, or to discuss your own attempts at mass game completion! And of course, don’t forget to check out the forums, where I’ll shortly be posting a list of other games I’ve yet to complete! If you haven’t registered yet, do so! We’d love to have you around more often! 😉

I love a good challenge like this. Can’t wait to play along with some of the games on your list.

It raises issues about game completion, I also have loads of unfinished games (as do we all) and many of them are brilliant but for one reason or another never get finished. I can’t bare to leave a movie half watched so why do I give my games such poor treatment?

Also if your not finishing games are you ever really getting your moneys worth?

Gonna have to do some serious promotion of this feature!

TP is a good game. If they’d added support for the classic controller it would have been a great game.

You sir are a brave, brave, foolish, brave person, mad as well, but mostly the other stuff.

I probably should do this, but I’m far too weak and easily swayed by new shiny things.
